For me, once I have established a brief, the next step involves assembling a set of likely images and seeing how they work together.
The first idea I had was to locate pictures relating to the various track titles: gods or their tokens, landscape and so on; and layer and blend them. I found images, plonked them down in layers, and started applying filters and blends.
I've put together a page with some snapshots from the planning stage, and discussion of the tools I use. If you are interested, click , and let the page download in the background. But I warn you, there is nothing very pretty there, it really is work in progress.
It quickly became apparent that this approach was giving results that were far too specific. The emphasis was on the things, not the spaces.
